The Toby Speak Dictionary Search Facility

This page needs to know what's in the Toby Speak dictionary. This is accomplished via JavaScript include files (*.dic). The dictionary file mar09.dic may be edited to add words to the dictionary.

Motivated by DiDi's Bye Bye Bill post, the name of a person who is not as "smartz" as Toby and the number of words in Toby's "dishunary" (in Roman numerals and in Arabic numerals) scroll across the top of the page. Scroll direction is right to left, 50% of the time.

Two functions take care of English / Toby conversions. They take what you enter in corresponding forms, find the word in the dictionary and then use the fact that each dictionary entry has a _foo_->~bar_ structure to turn foo into bar or bar into foo. If not found, an appropriate message is displayed (in an appropriate language).

The graphic of Toby was built using Animation Shop, a tool that comes with Paint Shop Pro. It's a 500-frame, 10-second .gif that looks like Toby as a stained glass window.
