You have a cubic tank that measures 1 mile by 1 mile by 1 mile.
(Obviously, you have a very large back yard ...) It's full of water. (I
think I filled it w/ champagne at one point and became very popular, but
I digress.) It has a drain pipe that drains at the rate of 1000 gallons
per minute. Question: How long will it take to empty?

According to the calculations below (I don't show how 1.101 * 10^12
gallons = a cubic mile of water) the answer is about 2093.3 years!

1.101 * 10^12 gal. / 10^3 gal/min =

1.101 * 10^9 /60/24/365.25 =

2093.3 years

I googled on "1 mile cube water tank draining from tank" and got a hit
on the link that has been appended to my box 105 entry. They get an
answer that is different than mine (34890 years!) because their tank is
draining at a different rate, namely 1 gallon per second. But the method
of solving both problems is essentially the same.
