Ancient Histoty Revisited

This is one of only a few paintings I have done without the use of
stenciling. It is painted free-hand as an experiment in blending gouache in
black and white. The painting was originally meant to be hung vertically
since I wanted to simulate the lunar view as seem from an approaching
satellite. The view was more "real" to me if considered this way (rather than
as shown in this landscape orientation) and it was in fact very similar to
one the Apollo astronauts experienced on lunar approach. Fore sake of
conventional viewing, I've re-oriented the image in a more "normal"
perspective.
