A Safe Place Alone

This is the first in a current series of two paintings having to do with Heaven -- or "where" we might go when we die. As in the painting "A Safe Place (Together)", this scene is an imagined place in an imaginary room on some distant land out in the Universe. It is a rather personal painting and to some, its description may seem to be a depressing one. I like to think of it in a positive sense though, attempting to look to the peace and serenity of a very solitary existence without disturbing thoughts, memories or feelings. They all exist here, yet none is viewed as being disturbing. The second painting is less physically "narrow" in its outward view and, because of this, seems to convey the possibility that something or someone may be there with me in this imaginary view from Heaven.
