Comfortable Pair

Although separated by light years in distance, these two seem to rest
comfortably against the night sky. The theme in my painting is much the same
as that of "Mother and Child," an earlier piece. The bright star glistens all
by itself. We may think it has more importance than the others in the sea of
billions beyond it. It certainly looks more important here. I like to think
of its importance only in relation to the mood it depicts as it floats near
the great moon body nestled in the landscape near it. It is a beautiful scene
-- a quiet one -- a safe one. But what of the other billion stars? Could they
be creating moods more pleasant than this to other beings in far off lands?
We can think that they may. And, chances are, there are many such scenes in
many distant places. We can dream and cherish the fact that scenes do exist
if only for their own beauty unseen my man. Imagine how different such
"comfortable pairs" may look. There may be oceans with large icebergs in
them. There may be rapidly moving mist over sand dunes at dusk. There may be
two beings looking together at two tiny moons frequently eclipsing one
another against a backdrop of even more stars than we see here. They could be
out there tonight as we read this. They could be seeing what we can only
imagine. Might they be in what we call "love" here on earth? Maybe. It may be
a common theme not only vast in it spiritual meaning but also in its physical
location elsewhere.
