First Life

Sometimes we may wonder what it was like when life came to "be" in the Universe. Where did it occur on our Earth? Did it happen suddenly? Was there some wonderful chemical reaction that miraculously took place? I imagine what scientists now call DNA as "forming" in a swamp somewhere deep in the universe. This scene emphasizes the miraculous moment of life as it "reaches" for the sky as if "boiling up" in its powerful birth. In real life, it was not likely this dramatic or obvious. But when we consider the significance of the first life form's origins we cannot help but want to paint a much different picture. Even the moon seems to be joining in with the busy celebration.
