I Miss You
The theme of loneliness returned again as I made a conscious decision to
change what originally has been a "western" sandstone color scheme (see
"Plateau Wish" and "Greatest Aspiration") to one involving violets, blues and
grays. (See also "Contentment in the Morning".) Sometimes the heart longs to
feel the closeness we never felt long ago. It aches and tears flow and we
know all too well how alone we feel. "I Miss You" is a little unusual in that
its "story" is not intended to highlight the absence of a lover. I would
rather have it be symbolic of the lovers many of us never ever had -- those
we so wanted to know -- and still want to know. We look in life for comfort
and love. Sometimes we are slow to act for one reason or another. Insecurity
may run deep, if we let it. Moving away from the lonely landscape is a
journey of great promise and joy, if we choose it. And only then, with self
love, can we come to know and appreciate the beauty in others -- even as we
miss those we never knew.
