I worked 12 hours today on a new painting -- from beginning to end. It
is 10" x 10" and is called "Metatron's Cube." This piece is the first
in a series of paintings which now include two additional media --
Berol Prismacolor colored pencils and archival black permanent drawing
ink. The sky continues to be painted in gouache, an opaque watercolor.
Stars, also in gouache, were added last. The pen used was a .05mm
Micron pen. This painting was done on one (of 10) 20" x 30" acid-free
Strathmore illustration boards - purchased at a great 50% off price
due to a customer's returning the unopened package for something else.
It is great to work with. Many of my older paintings were done using
it.

I've been getting interested in mandalas as well as 2 to 3-dimensional
designing of polygons using circles and geometry. Mandalas are
interesting in that they have spiritual and "universal" attributes.
The are found to have healing qualities when used in meditation. The
intriguing thing about these "constructions" is that virtually all
3-dimensional polygons found in nature are created based on these 3D
"arrangements" of spheres -- all placed as you see them here in
Metatron's Cube. See the link in my comment for more details on
Metatron.

The painting is intended to be framed with its 3/8" white space
showing all around the piece [the title, signature and date are shown
in it.] AND have a 2 1/2 inch warm white mat and a simple pewter
finish metal frame and UV-glass.
