The New Path - [Album Details]

Note: Colors and shapes [of color] in no way will be reflected in the final work.
This pattern is intended to show relative seed locations only.   Seeds #11 and #12 are intentionally not included.

Final Size: 38 inches x 30 inches (unframed)

A collection of painting/drawing images all of which are part of a
larger 38" x 30" work. This piece is similar to a piece called 'Path
of Life' begun 4 years ago on May 13, 2016. It was never completed as
I had originally intended.
Path of Life
'The New Path' will also tell a story of sunflower seeds. There will be 11 of them. In May of 2019 I grew a 12 foot sunflower from one seed. Over 1,200 seeds were harvested from the head of this one great flower. I selected (11) seeds in the harvest and I've incorporated these actual seeds into what can be seen as "points of origin." Each 'point' will connect in a balanced way to the greater 'family' of seeds. Unlike the original "Path of Life" drawing, I will attempt to incorporate much more beauty, symmetry and "interwoven color tinting" within and around the seed-path designs. It is worth mentioning something about one particular sunflower seed
(
the #13 seed) in the center of this work. All "paths" will be shown to
lead from it and return to it! I have arbitrarily selected this seed to
be "the best" looking one. It will therefore be among 1 or 2 other
seedlings I will propagate soon and plant later here in my garden --
in late May, 2020.
This particular seed was mentioned (and used) in another earlier work.
The story about it, although lengthy, can be found in the text for
Untitled 2020 January 21 Abstract seen below. The seed was also used then
as a template for the lower-right area of the painting's 5 seed locations.
As with the "Path of Life," this piece will take a long time to complete -- maybe 9 to 12 months! My hope is to include not only photographs of actual sunflowers but also "places" in the painting itself from which the respective seeds were placed to create the interconnecting paths. We all have family stories and the "Paths" of those stories have an amazing evolution. So too does the family of my #13 sunflower seed. There will be many images in this album. Each will speak for itself. When complete, I hope to show the complete integration and the beauty in the story of these seeds.
