The abstract "Reaching" is an open window out onto the universe. The free-flowing, colorful forms represent a feeling of striving or "reaching for" something. They could be seen as a symbol of hope, longing, curiosity, or social spiritual focus. The moon, in this case, appears to be the object of "interest" in this cosmic scene, although it is not intended to be one of pure astronomical meaning. Instead, it too represents "the purpose" of our personal or social involvement -- a common "quest" of some nature. We "reach for the stars," and this beautiful scene captures the spirit of this reaching. This painting is double matted with white museum board (100% rag mats). I am thinking of framing the piece in a dark cherry, wood frame with conservation glass (ultraviolet light-resistant glass). Back |
