Starlight Companion
I have always liked to "place" the moon in behind the delicate
branching of trees. There is a beautiful silhouetting which takes
place. In this painting, the moon is quite prominent. I often like
to "weight" my paintings on either the left or right. And, as I do
so, it becomes necessary to balance the paintings in some way. I
have placed a small glistening star above the landscape to the
right. To further "compliment" the moon, I have added a symmetric
series of starlight rays. I enjoy this scene very much, as it casts
a feeling of stillness and unity in the two celestial members. The
distances between the two are indeed vast, as they are to us. But,
as vast as they are there seems to be a closeness between them. For
this reason, it seems appropriate to title this painting "Starlight
Companion."
