The Devel Both the color and the shape of this "celestial creature" make me see it in light of all we fear most. Much like a "headdress in the night," this masked invader seems to dominate the sky, instilling in us a feeling of discomfort and imminent danger. "What is it we really see? Do we see this as threatening? Is this a bad omen? -- something from which we should escape? And what is to be made of the open center and of the similarly shaped "diamond-shaped masks" that seem to propagate from itself? Possibly others may not see these as threatening. I see them to be. Like a dangerous being, this warrior of all life, seeks to engulf the universe, swallowing up all that is beautiful and right. Like a disturbing menace, it shows its ugly face warning us without enough time to think how we may proceed beyond its emotional grip. Like a devil it tests our ability to choose all that it tries to destroy. And if we are loyal to "the other powers within", possibly we may be free to accept a finer fate should we choose it. All is not lost as evidenced in the permanent starlight shining steadily through it in the background. We must stand strong and wait for it to be silenced by God. Back
