Hogsback Half 2011 - Pix and Commentary
11th Annual Hogsback Half Marathon a Success!
The overcast skies cleared just in time for the start of the 11th Annual Hogsback Half Marathon, held on Saturday, September 24 in Colebrook. A record crowd of runners enjoyed a scenic 13.1 mile run through Riverton, Pleasant Valley, Hartland and Colebrook. Many ran this race for the first time and enjoyed beautiful country roads, roadside waterfalls and welcomed Fall with the crunch of acorns and leaves under their sneakers.
Marc Robaczynski of New Hartford won the event with a time of 1 hour, 12 minutes, 39 seconds. First place female was Margaret Alexson from Norfolk with a time of 1 hour, 39 minutes, 36 seconds. Home-made awards were given to the top 3 finishers in 10-year age divisions, and all finishers received custom "piggy" finishers medals. Runners were also treated to great post-race food and spectacular views from the Goodwin Dam on Durst Road.
The Hogsback Half Marathon is part of the Hartford Track Club's race series. It is held every year in September. Bookmark http://www.hartfordtrackclub.org on your computer for updates on the race for 2012.
