Recent news on using Peter Schorn's Altair Simulator (2/27/17, 2/28/17)

I have added timestamping to the Altair Simulator. This was done by
revisiting Schorn's site and downloading zsdos.zip (in his Operating
Systems section, which is http://schorn.ch/altair_4.php).

I modified my startup script which I call nzcom.txt, adding the line

attach dsk5 zsdos.dsk

There are now five 1.1 MB "floppy discs" A thru F and two 8.4 MB "hard discs"
I and J.

Key programs on this disc are putds.com and setupzst.com. I ran putds
(Put DateStamper) and had it create !!!TIME&.DAT files on drives A thru F.

BTW, it seems the "hard discs" can't handle timestamping. I then ran
setupzst (set up zsdos timestamping). I chose DateStamper, said yes to
the RSX below option and, finally, entered simhclok.rel as the clock
driver.

Other executables that are in zsdos.dsk are filedate.com and zxd.com,
both directory programs. They show dates on files.

jetldr was used to load zsdos.zrl.

Finally, I nzblitzed the system, calling the .com J2.COM (I put it on
"hard disc" J2:).

When I bring up the simulator via ./altairz80l64, at the sim> prompt I
type

sim>do nzcom.txt

This gives me an A> (we are running CP/M). I get to J2: via J: <ret>
then user 2 <ret>. At the J2> prompt I run J2.COM via J2 <ret>. I get a
new prompt of J2>> (we are running Z-System now and an "error handler"
is running). I can then go to drive F user 2 via F2: <ret>. Any files
that get created, modified etc. here will have their dates shown when I
run filedate or zxd.
