I've been delinquent posting. Too busy getting engaged. LOL Okay, not really
- it didn't take that long. So the big question - Tracy Freeman? I'm thinking
maybe if I take Jason's name, I can absorb some of his patience, kindness,
non-evilness, etc. :P
Oh yeah, I've been running too - and going to the gym. Nothing out of the
ordinary. I'll be going next week to get fitted for orthotics for my running
shoes.

Better to be safe than sorry with the weather. The wife of one of my client's
went out for a run that day when it was crazy slippery and promptly fell,
breaking her arm in two places. Funny story - that morning, Ben called me
from the bus stop, which is literally .10 mile away to tell me the bus didn't
come. He asked me to come pick him up b/c he was "scared" to walk home. I
thought for sure he was being overly dramatic. As my car got closer to him,
he started to step off the curb and damn near fell but did a foot shuffle
and saved himself. Crazy, crazy stuff. But pretty funny. I asked him how
he walked to the bus stop and he said, "I was shi_ _ ing my pants." LOL

I've also been not exercising much in the last 2-3 weeks. Had eye
surgery January 3 and was told to not run, but have slacked off on
regular walking indoors (in order to avoid the cold air temps on eye).
Yesterday I got some ski goggles to keep the eye(s) safe. I see the
eye doctor today to see what he has to say about that "solution."
Might try to go a slow few miles this afternoon if he says it would be
safe.
Been connecting with work friends and learning about oil painting
materials and procedures from others. Grateful for the help while off
from work 2 weeks. Back to work Monday.

Ran about 4 miles w/ Lani at Brickyard this morning. 0 degrees. We decided
to run on neighborhood roads instead of the trail since it was icy. Been
thinking it would be good to do this during the winter months instead of
the trail. We ended up returning via the trail since we took a wrong turn
on our way back.
The neighborhood roads reminded us a bit of when we ran the Wethersfield
roads. Hilly, no traffic, real pretty. We'll map out a route and do it again
next Sunday.

Congrats Tracy and Jason. Running is good these days although cold. Yesterday
I planned on longer than 5 miles(which is my norm) and felt good so went
on to complete 10! My best average pace hovers around 13:30 although I can
get into the 12s on some individual miles. I need to start doing some hill
repeats and sprints to improve the pace. As you have seen here I'm helping
Lani more with HTC races. I'll be volunteering and entering at some upcoming
events.

My eye surgery for glaucoma and cataract (right eye only) went well.
Got the go-ahead to run and am trying to get back into it. The 2-week
"vacation" from work was nice. Got quite a bit done on a new oil
painting (just the canvas prepping phase). Nothing posted yet. Will
be visiting other artists in Lowell hopefully this Saturday to ask
some questions I've had about stretching canvas, painting, etc.

Nice to hear your news Tracy! All the best to you and Jason!
I looked at some of your runs, Mike. Not sure but I think you may have
exceeded your major wind chill endurance record on that 10.08 miler on
Saturday! +5 to -8 degrees is truly frigid! You've been super
consistent with your running! Lee, you actually "tied" Mike with +3
to -8 degrees on Sunday! My run that day was during a +9 degree heat wave!

Today was interesting. At 4:15am the roads were all black ice so I wore my
Du-North microspikes. They have small carbon pins that are perfect for ice.
Really don't do much in snow. Did 5 miles again for my Winter Warrior miles.

I have been lax in my logging. Last post was on the 23rd. I'm continuing to
do short, slow things in my neighborhood. Not sure if I'll (or anybody'll)
be out on the roads near Brickyard this Sunday given the weather forecast.

1/25 1.72
Finally took a picture of this guy whom I pass whenever I do my 'nihilator
run.

Ran early today to beat the storm. It was snowing but only about 3" on the
ground at 4:30am. Did 7+ miles at a slow pace because of the conditions.
Yesterday I had a much better run with negative splits. Felt good. Starting
to look at some spring races. I signed up for the Quarter Marathon in West
Hartford and thinking of Bolton for the first time in 2-3 years.
