I took Monday off - cold, awful rain when I got out of work. I don't know
what's become of me. I don't care if I miss a run and I've started drinking
beer! LOL No more than 16-20 oz. at a time. Not like I'm slamming them
back over here but kind of funny. Sent to Joe to the liquor store for brown
ale - my newly discovered favorite.

Mike, your mountain race is June 20th? Wow, that came up fast.

Two entries today. First one was about 6 miles: to Walgreens then w/ Wanda

I have put something new on the main page of the blog which you might want
to try out. Underneath Sonic the cat you will now find two links ... the
first one lets you see the current month's internal log ... the second one
lets you *search* the entire log (all posts between 2011 and now). Hope you
find it useful and interesting.

6 miles after work - 8:02 pace. The first 5K was sub-8. Was riled up from
work. Since I can't talk about this on FB, I'll vent here. Had a client's
daughter tell me that her piece of shit brother shot their mother's cat because
it peed on his shoes. She didn't report it and didn't really seem to be
too bothered by it. She only told me to make a point that her brother is
an asshole. So I called animal control and made an anonymous complaint.
However, I was stressed all day about the possible fallout at work. I'm
still not sure if anything will come of it but I didn't involve the law firm
at all. Anyway, just another day at the office...

Ran the Kyleigh's Cure 5k Road Race in Braintree, MA this morning Almost did
not make it to the race due to NO busses running on Sundays. Was lucky to
have had some T-worker just randomly tell me this in passing conversation in
a big empty parking garage. Had he not walked by at 7:45 am, I would have
stood there waiting for an hour. and would NOT have had time to jog to the
start (as I did anyway... since I now had time) SO, I hopped back on subway
and went one more stop up the line to Braintree Center and began the 2.47
mile jog to the start.

Distance: 3.35 miles

Pace: 7:29 / mile
Temp: 64º F
Humidity: 45%
Elevation Gain: 84' (one moderate short hill 2/3 into the course
5k entrants: 434

Mike, good luck at the Mt. Washington race!

I'm laughing at how you "save your legs." I haven't run since Sun. and Joe
hasn't run since Sat. That's how we "save our legs." Actually, I've never
taken almost a whole week off before any major event. I was just so damn
busy this week that I literally didn't have the time for any running and
wasn't motivated to get up earlier before work to do it.

I'm a bit scared about the NY race - facing the 100 mile beast again after
multiple attempts. But all I can do is try my best. I'll be sure to give
a report (will be brief) on Sun. We all leave for Jamaica on Tues. morning
at 4 am! And Joe and I have to work on Mon. Ugh, obviously, I was not
thinking when this was all planned out!

Mount Washington is in the books! 1:57 which is better than I expected. 4,664
elevation which was a killer on the legs but the breathtaking views made
up for it. Check out the Garmin elevation graph and how it's one straight
angle up. Not a cloud or haze in the sky. Start temps around 40f and on top
was about the same by the time we reached it. The winds made it very cold
though. A great experience. Glad I did it and I will consider it again in
the future. Well run race as well. 20 "169ners" were there and I saw Todd
Brown but never hooked up to say hi. Tracy and Joe hope all is well in NYC.

8:04 pace at Branford. 1st in 70-74. Muggy. The guys and gals I ran into
at Litchfield were there. Jen Lutz and her boyfriend Bill and Ken. Karen
Prado placed with a 41 and change. John Courtmanche did not run due to Cheshshire
1/2 injury. Finished w/ Liz Wright, a friend of Wanda's. Milford 4 on the
4th mentioned by her. I've done this many times. Directed by Marty Schaivone.

Well done Mike at Washington. Your weekly mileage is amazing.

ceb - Monday, June 22, 2015 at 02:24:27 (GMT) (subtract 4 for local time)

Long time since I've been here!

I took Thursday off from running

Friday I ran 10 miles (adding 5 miles missed on Thursday) The time was
1:30:58 for the 10 miles to Stoneham and back. Pace was 9:06 / mile

I took Saturday off thinking I might race alone at the track on Sunday to
save on the $25 entry fee for a Belmont 5K race (weather forecast sounded
aweful)

So today, Sunday, I did that. I rode my bike to the track around 5:00 pm and
warmed up with a mile: See below:

https://connect.garmin.com/activity/811294104

Then I put in a hard 5

https://connect.garmin.com/activity/811294095

The above was a decent race I did alone to replace the 3.1 miler in Belmont,
MA (which I did not enter) due to heavy mid-morning rain. The pace was
surprizingly fast.

Distance: 5.0 miles
Time: 35:12
Ave Pace: 7:02 / mile
Weather: 73º F and sunny with 83% humidity
Location: Tufts track

I cooled down with 4 miles on the track. See below:

https://connect.garmin.com/activity/811294086

Weekly Summary: 32 miles (1 mile short of plan)

Mike, your race on the mountain was grrrreaat! I looked at your elevation
images and felt like posting them here. It's not often (rare?) you see a
Garmin display something like this. Nice run Mike!

I like the pic of you guys in Branford, Lee. Great result for you as well!

Mike, congrats on your Mt. Washington run! Someone said to expect to finish
around your half marathon time. Not sure how that was figured out but well
done!

Lee, congrats on placing first in Branford.

Chip, go find a 5K and bust out that pace!

I'll write some brief thoughts about the TGNY100 later today. Joe and I
took a 100K finish time (which took approx. 16 hours, 25 min.) and completed
71 miles before officially stopping.

Did 8 miles in Flushing at a 11:09 pace. Decided to run down to Flushing Meadows
where the 1964 World's Fair was held. Some of you may not be aware but that
was a big deal back then. I was 10 years old and on a family vacation there.
Great park for running. Many people out doing various types of exercise.
Tracy and Joe...I'm pretty sure some of your TGNY100 looped through this
park.

Did the Cannonball 1 mile run last night on a whim. In Preston CT. 7:45 pace
was all I could muster and on a flat course so that is why I don't run 1
mile races! But had a good time.
This morning I did 7 miles down to Bristol. Only excitement was watching
a mother skunk pick up her baby, who had run in the road, and carry it back
to the woods. I may be running the Nipmuck 14 mile trail race on Sunday.

3 hours of yard work :)

Didn't run Mon., Tues. or Wed. Ran about 9.2 miles Thursday
at about a 10:15 pace. Garmin data did not make any sense at all
for this run -- which makes me think the 7:02
pace on this last Sundays 5 mile race / run was way off.
Ran tonight 8 miles using my Casio. The time was 1:21:27. The ave pace
was 10:10 / mile.

Did the "Run For Chris 5K" in Essex. Time was 26:13 and a 8:27 pace. Came

Did 9 miles today. It's June 30th which means we're half way through the

I'm more than half way there. Today is also the 132nd consecutive day I've
run.
