Should've posted this on Sun.

Week in Review:
Mon. GYM + 5 m/9:48
Tues. 7 m/9:34
Wed. GYM
Thurs. Rest
Fri. 6.2 m/8:57
Sat. GYM + 5 m/8:36
Sun. Middletown 10K 52:01/8:23

My goal for the 10K was to be under 54 min. so I did much better. When I
saw how close I was to being under 52 min., I really booked it but couldn't
quite make it. Hilly course - worse than Apple Harvest. I thought my time
was 52:04 but just saw the official results right now. So 2 seconds hurts!
LOL But, I was first in age division, which they listed as 45-49. There were
15 other runners in my age group.

Took 6 days off after my double race last Sunday as my lower back was a bit
sore. Went OK today in the Hot COCO 5K in Cheshire. My pace was about 13
minutes. Brent ran 8:30s. Linda took lots of pix. We ran into a gal we met
at Tarzan Brown so it was great to chat with her after the race.

I was about to enter my report below when I could not help but notice
the picture of the ice leaf Linda took today -- 11/14/21 -- and which
now appears on the home page of the Brickyarders site.

I was pretty much blown away by it because I took a very similar
photograph this morning too. A pin oak leaf had frozen on my car's
windshield. When I removed it, I was struck by the beauty of the
imprint it left behind. It appears we were doing the same thing at
the same time in two different places! Wow!

So, as far as my running goes since my last entry here on October
26, nineteen days ago, it was on:

Sun 11/7 - 4.01 miles at 6:14 am, 12:14 pace, 27 degrees and clear

I plan on 3 miles later this afternoon and will report back today.

3.0 miles at 5:06 pm. Pace 12:09/m. Through Ayer center and back.
Felt slow but rested. Took it easy. Ave heart rate 121 bpm.

Summary for 11/9-14: 3 miles

[Note: I (Chip) removed much of my last post so that's why this month
appears shorter. I didn't feel comfortable with the post.

So....I haven't posted anything in a long time. My "running" has been mostly
walking and some running. In July I developed persistent atrial fibrillation.
Basically my right atrium just vibrated 24/7. One can live with Afib but
there is a high risk of stroke so I had to go on blood thinners and beta
blockers until I reverted to a normal rhythm. I never did revert. The condition,
combined with the meds, reduced my capacity to exercise. After four months
and switching to a new cardiologist I finally had a procedure called cardioversion
to get back to a regular rhythm. At Hartford Hospital they put me to sleep
then shocked my heart much like defibrillation. Ended up with a nasty chest
burn but it worked. My heart is beating normal again. Which means I started
running again. In the four months I had afib I lost all my physical fitness.
But that's OK as long as I can run again. I entered the Wallingford Turkey
Trot 5K this weekend to see what I can do. Probably not much but it will
be fun. I will see some of you there.

Tue 11/23 3.0 m
Wed 11/24 4.0 m

Ran 3.17 miles with Lee and Eric Thanksgiving morning on woodland,
hilly Vermont trails from a point at the end of Garden Drive (a right
turn off East Darling Road) which looped eventually back to that
point. A chilly 27 degrees. Although Eric made a considerable effort
to confirm weather or not a local race was or was not going to take
place in Barton, it was not until after the race that he was told it
had. We enjoyed our own woodland run despite the late news.

Mary and Linda, once again created a masterpiece of a Thanksgiving
dinner later in the day at the Wildflower Inn apartment where we
stayed.

It's been awhile since I've run over 10 miles. Wow, so I ran 14 miles on
11/7/2020, well over a year ago, and only about 4 10 mile runs since then.
What a slacker! LOL I actually felt really good until the end (because
I ran a negative split and was pushing the last miles). I need to go back
to slow and long for my body's sake. This upcoming 2 miler is going to kill
me. LOL
