One hundred and sixty towns!! Wow. Great pic there Lee with you
and the new Queen, Heidi Groeger! Your pace was "red" at the
very end which looks to me like you had a great kick across the
finish line. Nice job!

I have been MIA over the past couple of weeks. The new job has been busy
and Jason moved in. Congrats, Lee, on your 160th town! Do you have an update
on Mike? I hope he's okay.
Jason and I ran the Apple Harvest Race yesterday. My goal was between 41
and 42 min. and my time was 40:50/8:09. However, the course measured 4.95,
which is a bummer b/c it means I was over 41 min. I've run that course almost
annually since 2007. Out of 14 years, I missed 2014, 2015, and 2017. The
course has usually measured around 5 m or slightly over; the last 2 races
were a bit short though. Jason ran just under a 9 min.mile, which is great
considering he never runs anymore. LOL Of interest to note - I don't know
her, never met her, but I've seen Diane Snow in the results since I've been
running the race. She's 10 years older than me. She has beat me every year.
Even the year I PR'd with a 37:55, she got a 37.52. So yesterday, for the
first time in history, I beat her. My time again was 40:50 and hers was 41:52.
A solid minute plus and 14 years in the making! LOL

Today's run was interesting. I tried running what felt like a
half-marathon race pace for one full mile (from mile 3 to mile 4). I
checked my watch at mile 4 and was a little surprised to see it read
9:07 per mile. Of course the question is could I sustain that for the
average for 13.1. Hoooo knows. Not sure. Had to work at it for just
a miles in the middle of today's 9.

I took another look at the 2019 Half results for BayState today. Stats are shown below
326 1 DENNIS MOORE New Paltz NY 72 M 0:08:38
356 2 DAVID REIN Beverly MA 70 M 0:08:46
418 3 RICHARD GAMBALE Tyngsboro MA 71 M 0:09:01
517 4 CHARLES HUBBARD Belmont MA 71 M 0:09:29
593 5 EDDIE WIKE Framingham MA 71 M 0:09:56
672 6 DAVID NEWHALL Beverly MA 75 M 0:10:22
The 2019 BayState Half had eleven (11) men in the 70-99 Age Group.
Their AG rank is shown in the 2nd column. Their age is in the 6th
column. Their PACE is in the last column. I'd be totally happy
with 4th place, but feel like it might be 5th. We'll see!
PS. The results are among a FULL list of 1,000 finishers. Column 1
shows the overall rank.

I expect Chip will post the details but to summarize: He was 1st in 70+ at
Baystate Half w/ a time of 2:00:04 (9:08 pace). In other words, he killed it.

Thanks Lee for the cool 3-way report on today's Mikey's Place 5k in
Wethersfield. Awesome we all ran today! Nice work to you as well!!
I finally found those results you first found for my Half today. It
was fun to sort the list to see where I fell in the smaller crowd of
586 runners. Wow, I got 1st this time. Not too bad a pace as well. I
remember seeing "Alex." He looked pretty strong, but I dug a little
deeper and tried to pass him at about 11 miles. It was a good race
with only 2 minor hills. I was a little stiff after, but basically
ok. There were no live awards and many runners were a bit thrown off
by that -- as well as a rather minimal list of text message alerts to
runner's friends, but hey -- we just came out of a pandemic
(hopefully) and the kinks will probably get worked out over time.
Ok, so now I must reveal a rather embarrassing oversight! I actually
left the apartment this morning WITHOUT my Garmin! I opted to not
drive home to get it since parking was filling up rapidly in Lowell
No prob, I thought... I just asked other runners if they had
time/pace info at the mile checkpoints and the mental calculations
weren't too bad.

Jason and I are registered for the Wallingford 5 mile Turkey Trot. That race
has a special place in my heart. I came in 1st overall female in 2013 with
a time of 38:18. Won't be anywhere near that this year.

Ran two races this weekend. Both 5Ks (although the one in Stamford was short
by a lot). The one this morning in Salisbury was an up and back down. It
turns out the rise in elevation was "only" 500 feet (not 1000 which is what
the promotional blurb said.) Over 70 runners, beautiful day, beautiful place.
A large fraction of the runners were 169 members. This is town #162 for me.
