A friend of mine just told me about "Mr. Boggs Steps Out." This is a 1938 movie about a guy who spouts useless statistics, quits his job after winning $1500 by guessing how many jelly beans are in a barrel, buys a barrel factory and ... well, I don't want to spoil it so you should grab it.

"During 1936 two million two hundred and forty-three babies were born in forty-six states. The returns aren't in yet for Maine and Vermont."
