Bridge of Flowers 10K - 8/11/12 - Shelburne Falls, MA

Three Brickyarders ran the 34th annual Bridge of Flowers 10K this morning. 2 mile loop starting at the old iron bridge then up THE HILL for about 4/10 of a mile (11% grade, steeper than Mt. Washington) then DOWN! Absolutely beautiful course. We missed Brent due to injury. Next year. Ed Kirby (75) ran today and is running Falmouth tomorrow. This course has a figure 8 loop where you can see runners coming at you as you go out. I looked for Sri but never saw him (he was a good 5 minutes in front of me so this is probably why). First time I saw him was at the end of the race.

Race Director Mike McCusker yodeled to start the 3K. When I saw #45 I said "He looks like a winner." I was right. He was waaaay ahead of everybody at the finish.

This is why they call it the Bridge of Flowers

Jay Seney, behind Lee, placed 1st in age. 43 minutes. His son Brian ran his very 1st 10K today. Jay told Lee that he introduced Bekkie Wright to Joe Poliquin at the Green Mtn Marathon!

Rich Larsen (1st) is in his 60s and took 39 minutes.

The guy that placed 2nd is 69. Lee and he traded places throughout the race.

Kathleen Scotti placed 3rd in the 70-74 division.

70-74 division. Lee took 50 minutes.

Jerry Shimoda-Peterson placed as well. We picked up his medal and will give it to him @ Hogsback.
