A friend of mine told me about the Memorial Mile and I decided to give it a shot. I set a goal of 6:30 and came pretty close (did 6:32). Ran into Bekkie, Joe, Bill Tribou (who ran an awesome 10:11 at age 89 1/2) and several other friends. Chatted with Ray Prest at length before the race. Brent Stratton suggested I try to be about 10 seconds behind him at the quarter mile mark to attain my goal (he was shooting for 6:15 and ended up with a 6:05). Bekkie told me on Saturday to show up early and run about 2 miles before the race. I followed all this advice.

Lots of real young kids come to this great event. I always enjoy seeing their smiling faces when they get a trophy.

The winner did it in 4:58.

In my book, Bill Tribou came in first.

The oldest woman who ran was 49. There were 46 runners. The youngest runner was 5!
